Let's look at players retained by each team-

Royal Challengers Bangalore is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining teams in the league. RCB retained Virat Kohli who stepped down as captain after IPL 2021. RCB also retained allrounder Glenn Maxwell and pacer Mohammad Siraj. RCB released Chahal, Padikkal, Sundar and Harshal Patel.

The defending champions, Chennai Super Kings retained captain cool MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja. Dhoni has been associated with CSK right from its inception.

Mumbai Indians continue their stint with skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard. The five-time champions are the most successful team in the competition.

Delhi Capitals' domination in the league started a couple of years back and the franchise retained their skipper and pocket dynamite Rishab Pant alongside Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, and Anrich Nortje.

Known for encouraging and grooming young players, Rajasthan Royals retains Sanju Samson, Jos Butler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The inaugral champion must fight to restore and revive the lost glory.

Kolkata Knight Riders retained their longtime members Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. KKR kept its trust in young Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer.

Having experienced one of the worst campaigns in IPL last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad will continue with Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad, and Umran Malik.

The major surprise came from Punjab Kings when they released skipper, KL Rahul. Punjab has retained opener Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh.
